morning all.... im busy putting together a "all in one" tool kit for the KLR... one that would get me home no matter what... specially if im on solo trips in remote places...

whats in your "touring" tool kits? want to compare where im at...

Standard tool kit that KLR comes with, decent tyre levers, compressor, spare tubes, cable ties, duck tape and Q20.

You can always run a spare clutch cable on the bike and carry a spare clutch and brake levers

Put all your tools on the left of the bike, strip the bike as far as you dare to do, and the tools you used put them on the right of the bike, take only the tools on the right of the bike. Did you ever thought of that?

My list for longer touring...

Puncture Repairs:

Tyre patches
Tyre patch cement
Tire patch tool for scuffing tube and working in the patch
CO2 holder, enough CO2 bombs for about 4 flats
Tyre gauge
Bottle with dishwashing liquid and water mix
Thick large plastic bag for wheel change packing spot
Modified crutch to balance the bike when removing wheel
Two tyre irons with spare duct tape wrapped around the shaft
Front and rear tubes wrapped in cling wrap and baby powder
Valve puller

Running Repairs:

Spanners for 8, 10. 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19 mm open & ring
8 & 10 mm T-handle
Needle nose pliers
Small vice grip
Alan key set
Cable ties
Lock tite
Flexi handle plug spanner
Duct tape / insulation tape
Disposable surgical gloves
1m length of 10mm hose for fuel transfer

That is about me as well. Would add spare gear and rear brake lever does not take up much space if cable tied to bike. Broke my gear lever, due to certain choices made on a recent trip. Make sure your plug spanner can loosen the plug. Tricky space inside there
