Owned several bikes in my time, but this will be my first KLR - really looking forward to it!
Not sure if the previous owner is known on this forum - hope he came out the prang ok!
Will fetch her from the salvage lot in Pretoria this afternoon.
She was listed as a runner, but I will needing quite a few parts.
For starters I need a headlight and fairing, and tank plastics. Clocks seem to be ok from pics.
Anyone got parts or contacts?

Picked her up on Thursday. Damage is concentrated on the upper front area - fairing, clocks, handlebars.
She starts up fine - engine sounds great.
I have found a set of used handlebars (gen1) and left and right tank plastics.
Didn't realise a lot of KLR parts are made from unobtanium ;)
Generally the only place to find parts seems to be ebay (USA).
Since I only paid R11k +VAT, comm & admin = R15k total, I will try and fix her up on a budget.
Will put on a chinese universal dualsport headlight and fairing for now.

Good luck with the build. Look on the Facebook for sale pages. There are a few bikes with fried engines, maybe you can get some plastics from them.

if you get the prices on new plastics from Kawa you will understand why that bike was written off, In good condition with good tyres, brakes, Disks, chain and sprockets probably only worth 35 to 40K.
You will get more money parting it out. Eg head is worth 12K, From wheel 2K etc.
You can also consider doing a Gen 1 downgrade to the front end plastics, There are a few people who have done that.

on a second look there is something not right as plastics on the bike do not match the silver frame, which is clearly a 2008 model. Many of those were famous as oil burners due to bad machining on the barrel from new.
