I'm in the habit of starting my KLR to allow the engine to heat up for a couple of minutes before riding to work in the mornings. One of my colleagues warned me against allowing the engine to idle with the bike on the sidestand due to the lubrication system not effectively lubricating the engine when the bike is tilted. Is their any risk of damage with the engine running and the bike on the sidestand? The idle time normally does not exceed 2-3 minutes. Any comments or inputs would be appreciated.

It's fine as long as you've got more than a pint of oil in the engine ;D
