not sure if this has been discussed already, but, can we use all types of petrol or do we have to use unleaded?

what is better unleaded 95 or 93

almost had to put in 93 lead replacement juice the other day due a town not having unleaded

I don't think LRP will make damage inside the engine. The only component that will get damaged over time with LRP is the catalytic converter in the exhaust. In regards to 93 or 95, it wont matter as the KLR is a low compression motor and will hardly see any benefit in using high octane petrol.

I checked my Clymer manual and the recommendation is "unleaded, 87 or higher octane". 95 will make it zippier, but it is slightly more expensive I think.

To date no KLR exported to SA has been fitted with a Catalytic converter to my knowledge. In fact it is only the Californian model that has that.
Unleaded works fine by the way.
