How much damage does this do / can this do to the rest of the motor and is it worth replacing it as a preventative measure as opposed to waiting for it to fail while hoping it doesn't? (Like everybody does with the Doo?)

Second question, is it the bearing only, i.e. do one replace it with another one from Kawa (that might fail as well) or is it a standard bearing bought / manufactured in SA?

You have to split the crank case so is a major job. One bearing is Kawa only. Others are standard and are cheap. Labour is major though

Thanks Dave, in that case I will rather wait and hope it does not fail. B) :pinch:

Agree with Doc. Gets really noisey before complete failure happens. Listen to your bike.

Ok to add to the topic: ek het groot K@k or maybe not so?
My 2008 has a loud bang "clank" noise emmitting from the engine top. Sounds almost if the the valves closes a bit after the cam has released presure on the valve springs (i hope I am explaining this clearly).
When i turn the engine crank the sound comes just as the motor gets to TDC? Bent or sticky valve?
I will take the head cover off tonight and measure the vave clearances as ivwas told a bent or sticky valve would have out of spec clearances, is that correct?
