This is the first one that I come across.
This engine sounded terrible when it arrived here Friday night. :pinch: :pinch:

Was at Groenie yesterday. He has also had one the same. His latest is that all the teeth came of the sprocket on the balancer weight shaft.

This is concerning! :(

Doc, Groenie have you noted which years' bikes are affected?

Dave - yours is a 2008?

I've done 2 myself and helped on another one. All of them '08 or newer.

The bike currently in my graats somehow lost all teeth on one side of the front balancer weight.... the rest of the sprockets are all fine and the the chains are still within spec, although towards the end of the range.

I think most of these are caused by some piece of metal getting into the bearing and causing it to sieze, but it's strange that the most frequent failures are the top bearings...

This one here is also a black frame model, I think 2011. 65000 km.
Havn't stripped it down completely yet.
Bearing only lubricated by oil splash?
Bottom balancer shaft gets a lot more oil so I suspect that's why never a problem there yet.

Is it possible that the quality and oil level can contribute to this problem?
