I am currently looking at soft luggage options. I'm a firm believer in taking only what you need on any given trip (trying to incorporate that into life in general, with varying degrees of success). With motorcycle travel/touring/camping one size definitely does not fit all - it's about finding the best set-up with the least compromise for oneself.

Thanks Pete! I had a quick peek at those two ride reports. Next time you (or any other Clan members) come past here, I can point you towards some other nice gravel roads - with varying degrees of sand and corrugation. One should never do that 130km tar stretch between Kuruman and Postmasburg more than absolutely necessary! There are some alternatives!

Glad you liked the intro! I've always wanted to explore the West Coast Cederberg and Namakwaland by bike. You are in a prime spot to do just that. I'm definitely a bit jealous - might have to bug you for some route and other info when I get around to exploring that way.

I do like writing. I also enjoy taking photos. I very much like riding - so much so that stopping for photos just doesn't always happen. Unfortunately for the ride report to happen the ride must happen first. A common enough problem for all of us I believe, is that we just don't get to ride enough!

So true. For that reason we decided that needs to change. We did a ride with the family that did not work out as planned, but was still a fab day out. So now we plan to sell the fugly and get something smaller for my riding buddy, so she can have more joy when we ride. A little 250 is what we are looking at. I did do the ride we wanted to with a good buddy of mine this passed week, unfortunately my son's could not join dew to school. Ride report coming up. We plan to do some day rides here and there more often, in stead of waiting for the long rides to eventually happen.
